Description:
The National Geographic Bee, an educational program of the National Geographic Society, is a nationwide geography competition for U.S. schools with any grades four through eight, designed to encourage the teaching and study of geography.
Location:
The National Geographic GeoBee competition is held at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C., for both the middle school and elementary school divisions

"Academic enrichment: The competition provides students with an opportunity to learn about geography and to develop their critical thinking and research skills.
Personal growth: The competition can help students to build confidence and self-esteem. It can also help them to develop their public speaking skills and to learn how to handle pressure.
Scholarship opportunities: The top finishers in the National Geographic GeoBee are eligible for scholarships to help pay for college.
Travel opportunities: The National Geographic GeoBee also offers travel opportunities to the top finishers. For example, the winner of the competition receives a trip to the Galapagos Islands.

Eligibility Criteria:
Age and Grade Level: Students must be in grades four through eight (4-8) in the United States and its territories. Students who have reached their 15th birthday before September 1, 2020 are ineligible to participate.
Participation Duration: Students are eligible to participate in the GeoBee for a period of five years total.
